“No one can make it one hundred percent perfect. You need to focus on what is right for your business”.

Crafty Counsel interviewed Thomas Roth of Boehringer Ingelheim and Sara Fernández of Liberty Global on the positive aspects of the GDPR, over one year after its introduction. They give tips on how to successfully implement the GDPR and how in-house counsel can influence digital tranformation and innovation with their attitude to data.

Thomas’s tips: Demystify - simplify. Attitude - be pragmatic. Accountability - get buy-in from the Business.

“Stop complaining about the uncertainty of the Law. It’s not going to change. It’s you who needs to change.”

    Sara’s tips: Prioritise. Process. People.

“You can look at [GDPR] as a Marketing opportunity. It’s something you can build trust on… There’s a whole customer journey around privacy, from the moment you start informing them of how transparent you are, to how you inform them about how to exercise their rights…”.

This video was filmed in collaboration with ACC Europe, at their Annual Conference in Edinburgh in May 2019.
