At first the business would help junior legal professionals to qualify on an ad hoc basis, but now they recruit two in-house trainees every year. These trainees go through a two year in-house training programme to qualify as solicitors.

For other in-house legal teams, Emma advises setting up trainees with a proper induction, get all role requirements on paper, and devote time developing softer skills.
